The DLATML core mandate is to examine the Legistive and Administrative provision as well as bills and proposals and make such recommendation as it deems appropriate in order to ensure that these provisions conform to international human rights standards or instruments. To recommend the adoption of new legislation, the amendment of administrative measures. Promote and ensures the harmonization of national legislation, regulation and practises with international human rights instruments to which Liberia is a State Party. The Department also encourage the ratification of these instruments which the Republic of Liberia has not yet ratified, and to promote domestication and implementation by Government. Contribute to the preparation of reports which the Republic of Liberia is required to submit to the relevent United Nation bodies and committees and to regional institutions' prepare reports on the national situation with regard to human rights in general and on more specific matters. Submit to the Government, advisory opinion, recommendations, proposal, and reports on any matters concerning the protection and promotion of human rights. Draw the attention of the Government to human rights violation in any part of the Country and make proposals to it for initiatives to put an end to such situation and where necessary to express an opinion on the actions of the Government in response to violation.
