The Acting Chairperson of the Independent National Commission on Human Rights (INCHR), Cllr. Mohammed E. Fahnbulleh along with his fellow Commissioners had a productive meeting with the United Nations Resident Coordinator and the Country Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
Their discussions focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership between the INCHR and the United Nations, while reaffirming shared commitment to advancing the promotion and protection of human rights in Liberia.
The Resident Coordinator emphasized that while the appointment of the Commission's leadership is the sole responsibility of the Government of Liberia, it is important to complete the reconstitution of the Board following the expiration of the tenure of two Commissioners, resulting in four vacant positions.
The meeting concluded with the UN reaffirming its commitment to supporting the mandate of the INCHR.
The INCHR remain committed to building stronger institutions, promoting accountability, and safeguarding the rights and dignity of every person in Liberia.
